Today marks the end of Spanish holidays for this season: Epiphany Day or Three Kings’ Day. The traditional food for this day is a confection called “Roscón de Reyes.” It’s a large, sweet brioche-style donut.

The fruta escarchada on top resembles the jewels on a crown. I’ve recently learned that the green pieces are pumpkin!

Its center is very fluffy and not too sweet. I love to have mine with a cup of coffee.
The Three Wise Men are the ones who traditionally bring presents in Spain (as opposed to Santa). Nowadays, most families receive presents both on December 25 and January 6.

I remember leaving my house slippers under the tree when I was a little girl, back in the 80’s, going to see the Three Kings parade and coming back to my presents.

Here’s my friend Deborah’s Christmas tree. Beneath the tree, her family’s cozy slippers are neatly arranged.. Alongside the slippers, Deborah has placed some carrots and water for the camels, ensuring they are refreshed after their long journey, and there’s also a selection of milk and cookies for the Kings, lovingly prepared for their arrival.
